“You can’t shackle and chain someone for hundreds of years, liberate them to freely compete with the rest and then justly believe that you’ve been fair.
White privilege is having a head start due to hundreds and hundreds of years of systemic and systematic racism. It’s having a head start intrinsically built into your life. It’s not saying that your life hasn’t been hard. But what it’s saying is that your skin color hasn’t contributed to the difficulty in your life.”
Although it's context is USA based, it's still very relevant to our South African situation.
As white people, we don't fully comprehend white privilege and how it has benefitted us or impacted people of colour.
